Mt. Calvary: Life of an American Heathen

The third album in the American Heathen series, Mt. Calvary, is my homecoming album after returning from the summer traveling through Europe. It’s an ode to family and a culmination of my biggest influences.

This album was inspired by theater; it has a chronological setting, starting in October, and it makes its way through to the new year. The track ‘Summer ‘18’ is presented as a flashback, referencing my time abroad with Remote Year and acting as a time capsule as we move through the final months of 2018. The title, Mt. Calvary comes from the church my family has attended for the past century in Elizabeth, New Jersey. This inspired the gospel elements heard throughout the album. The “Church” theme was a metaphor for my desire to bring people together for the best, and the season symbolizes the power of music through life (Summer) and death (Winter).
